Beginning with the observation of a physical camera and its interaction with surrounding spatial distributions allowed for me to translate the object with its space onto paper as a graphite sketch. After the placement and alteration of line-work, I was able to refine the definition of shapes and pattern on to paper to form the resemblance of a camera. Following, the delineation of the object on paper came the digital upload, of which I was able to emphasize line-work using the brush tool. After selecting and outlining my work I was then able to collage pieces of a different material within sectioned off portions of the camera in Photoshop. A previous work of art, a mixed media abstract painting created in 2018, was used as a collage pieces to form the object in a different way from observational sketching. The expressive marks made in the past painting allowed for the illusion of  three dimensional form when placed in particular directions across the object. The concept of collage elicited the analytical use of suggestive color combination to establish a rhythmic representation of an object. The piece with collage elements of the previous painting utilized a low-key value scheme while to enhance the unity of the composition. In contrast, the digital piece that incorporates the use of digital paint and a collage of a former painting establishes the use of a high-key value scheme.  These design elements and the experimentation of different forms of digital imaging skills has translated the original form to an abstracted work of art. In an effort to allow the object to interact more with its digital space as well. I developed a setting in the background to improve composition balance and movement, with a horizon line, using similar techniques of digital collage.
