Play Experience

Through play, children learn the vital human characteristics of empathy, trust, and irony. Play and its social interaction allows children to develop problem solving skills which can prevent violent behavior later in their lifetime. Children with a lack of play experience in their life tend to deal with rigidity, depression, lack of irony, and the lack of adaptability in their adulthood.

When reminiscing on my childhood and my acts of play, I marked spaces and locations that were significantly correlated to the act and idea of play to me. These spaces in my past included nationally (perhaps world-wide) famous amusement parks, extravagant local playgrounds, and over the top county festivals. After investigating these locations it became apparent that with the idea of play I associate an exceptional form of physical and spiritual experience, rather than associating play with a toy or material subject. This realization encouraged the creative development of an innovative way of conducting and marketing amusement parks, or play experiences, similar to those traditionally established in central Florida. After researching the characteristics and marketing schemes of  major corporations that involve themselves with amusement parks, it was evident that these corporations layer the surface of the childhood experience over their strategy to market the stereotypical U.S. family dynamic of a white patriarchal household. The innovation of this new amusement park is to creatively target and welcome all sorts of family combinations that realistically exist in the United States.
