This project is about shark finning, and why we need to save sharks. I recently held a protest against Shack Shake partnering with Maxim’s a catering company that is Hong Kong’s biggest distributor of shark fins, and by partnering with them, they are encouraging the deaths of hundreds of thousands of sharks, going against their own motto of “Stand for Something Good.” I felt empowered by this piece and wanted to have music playing that would show that. I wanted to show that sharks are not just killing machines that we can coexist peacefully because more poeple kill sharks in an hour than sharks kill people in a year. Even the White Shark can interact peacfully and safely with humans, no shark should die because we are scared of them, they are here for a reason, they are vital to the Earth, they are a keystone species and if they go extinct because we make them, then the oceans would never be the same. I worked with Premiere and Photoshop for this assignment, and I shot the actual protest footage, the song I used is called “Black Smoke Rising” by Greta Van Fleet!
