Pete Buttigieg
Pete Buttigieg is a man who is attempting to be the face of the people and a man that is expressing the fact that he knows he is white and that he cannot experience oppression the same way that a person of a color can. He wants people to know that he wants to learn and that he does not want to run a meeting about racial equality, but rather have a seat in the audience. He was quoted in an interview with Ellen Dengeres, saying that “I think it’s got to begin with humility. I will never have the experience of, for example, walking through a mall or down the street and feeling eyes on me, judging me and maybe thinking that I am dangerous just because of the color of my skin, the way black men experience,” (Hollywood Reporter) . He knows that despite that he is a gay man, he knows that he is a CIS Gender White Male, and said “I think the next best thing is to show up, to listen, to learn and to elevate those voices,” he continued. (Hollywood Reporter) In that believes the best thing to do is to be there when people are in need and to show up when people are in need. It is important that we as people stand up and speak when people are being rude or unjust. Pete will do his best to fight for those who need it and will not sit back. His stance on immigrants is rather similar , he wants people to understand the importance these ideals are in the world. He believes that we are guests in this country and we have mistaken ourselves as the founder. This stance is one that many people have grown to love and to firmly believe is the one of hope and joy.
He also withholds strong views on the LGBTQ commuinty as he is a gay man who is running for presidnet. Many people say that we should not have him as a present or he is not fit to be president as he is a man who has shown affection for the man he loves on stage in a public setting many times. It appears feel as though if he wins this presidency or even the nomataion he will become the first gay man to even hold office. It would help benefit our country as a whole if we had a gay president because we need someone who will fight for the rights for our LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters who may not have the ablity to fight themelves. It will help them stand out as a whole throughout his bid for president. He has defied odds in many ways and has fought for many of them. He has been someone who has been able to take over and begin to understand what it means in this country to be able to make history.
It has become clear that Pete Buttigeg is the man of the people and is someone who has been able to speak out of the behalfs of many youth has been able to address many issues that would deem to be very important to the worth of this country. He has fought constantly for the rights of everyone. But in the way, he speaks you feel connected to him as though he is just your friend and not someone who is fighting against you. Voting for Buttieng would be one that would be important. I feel as though it is important for us to understand that this fight for all of us, is important to know that we get through the hatred together in the best way we can, responding with love.
