Hands of Time

My project is done in that the materials are all ready to go but because it is a performance piece, I will not know the actual results until the class. I can’t wait to see the performance unveil. My piece is two plaster cast hands that are holding ice sculptures. The one hand is holding the bottom half of a face with plaster teeth within and the other is an ice sculpture of an hourglass with sand within. The ice sculptures will be dyed black and when they melt the forms that remain will be sand and bone, the same way that that’s all that remains on earth. The idea is that time passes but little happens. It takes ages for ice to melt and it’s all about patience. I’m happy with how it’s turning out. It was an ambitious project but I’m proud to say I will pull it off.
