Koi Story

For my final project I wanted to do research on something I adored. It was the Koi Fish.

I started off by sketching lots and lots of different patterns the fish has and realised that I would not be able to produce the visual piece I thought of at first.

The materials and the space I had in my room would not allow it to happen.

So I just cut off lots and lots of wood and shaped them as a pattern of the fish.

Put them all together. Painted 2 of the wooden plates in orange because orange looks lovely on the fish.

I was not able to attend a lecture but I have been to lots of exhibitions to get inspired for my project

I went to see the Theater of Disappearance show at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art.

I looked through lots of 3d forms of art pieces at MoMa

I also went to see different exhibitions taking places at the galleries in Chelsea.

The only exhibition I was amazed by was called New Sculpture and the artist is Deborah Butterfield.

The gallery is called DANESE COREY

The sculptures really amazed me and inspired me throughout my project.

In summer when I am home in Turkey, with a bunch of friends I design clothes and we have a clothing line. I am willing to use the image of Koi Fish a lot this summer and since I learned more and more about it while researching, It will mean more to me.
