These are my grandparents from my mother’s side. My grandmother’s dress is designed and sewn by my mother’s great aunt. I think this image is interesting because the picture shows young adults having a ball with their glam looks and partners. In 2019’s Turkey, this would be much harder because the government is trying to change the governance to an Islamic regime. When I was young, my mother used to show my the garments made by her great aunt, and those garments were a big inspiration for me to become a fashion major.

These are my grandparents from my father’s side. They are attending to the Republic Ball. The dress is designed and sewn by my grandmother. She used to sew much of her clothes. My grandfather was a military doctor, so he wears his uniform. This photo gives me many emotions because I lost my grandfather when I was young and I miss him so much even though I don’t remember him fully. My grandmother’s embroidery techniques inspired me for some of my design works.
