BP 3

for our 3rd bridge project we explored a neighborhood of New York and then created a piece representing a certain facet of that neighborhood.  Mine was the Lower East Side and we chose to focus on the rich history of it and its eclecticism.

Materials: Masonite, Spray Paint, Gel Medium, Clay, Model Terrain, Sand Paper, Plastic, Hot Glue

Response:

This project was a very interesting one.  It gave me an insight into a neighborhood that I, as with all american Jews, feel a strong connection to.  I loved learning about the history and how the neighborhood has changed over time.  Working with a group was both positive and negative.  The positive was being able to collaborate on ideas and each share knowledge of the area and learn together.  The negative was that it’s hard to fulfill your artistic vision when you have two other ones adding to it.  The actual creating of the piece was hard to coordinate, but we ended up finding a good time and space to work.  I loved getting to experiment with new materials, like plastic and spray paint, as well as ones I’m more familiar with, like gel medium.
