Studio – Facing Feeling, Molding Mindscapes

Branding Team

With Carolina Torres Llanos

As branding team, our role was to design a branding style and create visual cohesiveness between all of the teams.

We collected visual ideas from all of the team’s designs and researched the physiological effects of shapes, colors and fonts.

With these two criterias we made a moodboard to share with all of the rest of class. Our goal was to create common threads between the various projects and let the moodboard be the leading visual theme.

We also asked for opinions, and discussed our choices with the class, in order to promise satisfaction for everyone.

Next we designed a poster to our exhibition that will be distribute online and around school. It was an intense collaboration between Carolina and I, and we went back and fourth with drafts until we came up with the final design.

We came up with an idea of making a token to share in the exhibition. Other than an attraction for our audience, it can also be taken and saved as a memory from the event. We bought small chocolates and wrapped them with stickers that we designed to match our general visual theme.

Animation Team

With Dan Hodges, Carolina Torres and Erin Carman

As part of the animation team, I was in charge of designing and animating the hand, as well as helping with the character design. I also worked closely with Dan on conceptual and visual ideas.

We worked together in order to bring all of the animation components together and edit the video into one cohesive piece. We then worked on the timing and syncing with the sound. Dan supported me with technical and mental difficulties that came up often during the making process.

He guided me and encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone and overcome my technophobia (this project involved using several adobe programs, big files, motions, sounds etc.) Although animation can get very stressful and exhausting, we were good friends one to the other and made sure to have good working environment until the end.

I was deeply inspired by Dan’s professionalism and devotion and learned a lot about animation and illustration in the time I spent with him. I also was inspired by many of the references and art projects I found through my brainstorming process. Most importantly, I learned a lot about team work and communication.

It was a very proud moment to see it all come together and become this amazing collaboration piece.
