For my research topic I want to focus on how the fashion industry comes to term with what is the “ideal” model and their body type. I am doing this in order to find out about how these standards effect both male and female models and in order to bring awareness of how unreal body expectations are harming our youth. Following this idea I want to discover how it is that certain brands decide on what measurements to take in their “one size fits all” clothing. In addition to this I want to see in what ways has the fashion industry attempted to change these standards or if they are at all.
Potential questions:
How have brands tried to stear away from “convential” beauty standards?
Should it be the responsibility of modeling agencies to go against these beauty/body standards or is up to the designer to set these boundaries?
Do photographers play any role in these standards?
