BELLEVILLE DÉRIVE MAP

Belleville paper cut-out map

The Belleville derive was the most difficult one for me to map because there were so many different aspects to the place.

Going through my camera roll, an image that stood out to me was the image of some leaves, but upon further observation, there were faint lines of a spiderweb and then I realised that I had seen a lot of webs around so I wanted to build my map around that. Its fragility wanted me to create something that was slightly delicate.

I decided to look up the map of belleville and make a paper cut out of it because paper can fall apart easily. The inner streets were divided in such a way that it somewhat resembled a web to me.

After the map was done, it looked somewhat empty so I decided to play with photoshop and erased the background against which I took the photo of the map, and replaced it with two pictures I took from Belleville.

Playing with shadows

When I was trying to photograph the map for my learning portfolio, the shadows made interesting shapes so I took some photos of those as well
