For this map I decided to depict my journey from home to parsons Paris in a less literal way. I chose hands as the main subject because I wanted to show the veins of the city.
I used vellum instead of paper because I wanted a slight transparency but haziness at the same time.
The red veins depict my dominant (right) hand. This represents my home city in India because I am more used to it and am more comfortable with it. I know it like the back of my hand.
The non-dominant hand (blue) hand represents Paris- with only two arrondissements embroidered- the first and the seventh. I am familiar with more places now, but for my first two weeks in Paris, those were the only arrondissements I would frequent regularly.
The overlapping of these two hands with the blue on top represents my current situation. I am in Paris, which is on the surface. But underneath it, I will always be more familiar with Delhi, because that is where my roots lie.
