Banner of Oppression

Life and death hold up the banner of oppression. The color of death, darkness, hangs his head in shame. For, he knows the harm he has done. The light holds his head up high, almost in a form of worship for the one who breaks the mold. Breaking through the light and dark, is a symbol for power, independence, and freedom. This hand, painted in the delicate color of pink, symbolizes the powerful women who have broken through the mold of oppression. Wrapped around the hand, and draped over the banner itself, is the name of whom this sculpture represents. But, only those who understand the native language of the place in which she represents can read the name. Only those who have experienced this oppression for themselves can truly understand the meaning behind the hand that breaks through the banner of oppression.

Self-Confliction

The metal casing in which I choose to wrap myself in can only be described as separated. I choose to separate myself from others. At times, I do so in a cold, hard, manner. The loose rocks represent my uncertainty to make the decisions I do, especially when it comes to separating myself from friends, family, or loved ones. But, through these cold, hard, qualities my extroverted nature chooses to break through. This aspect of myself rarely blooms, but when it does it shines brighter and more flamboyant than any other part of me. In essence, I am defined by the confliction of my introverted and extroverted natures.
