The part of the outfit that I designed was the hat. When designing the hat, I wanted to symbolize the East Village’s population’s transition from working-class to the punk rock movement. I did this by starting off with a trucker-style cap and then placed spikes in various patterns around the hat to symbolize one generation moving onto the next yet still keeping aspects of the past with them as they move forward in time.
