With my website, I would like to create a “choose your own adventure” type of story for the site to be built behind. The overarching idea for the story is fate, and how you can never escape it. To portray this idea, I am creating a simple narrative about a man who walks down the street. The title of the website is going to be, The Man Who Walks. When the user first goes onto the site, they are instantly greeted with the words “A man walks down the street…”. Underneath the text are three different choices that the user can click on. Either the man goes right, continues straight, or takes a left. From these choices various other choices will branch from them that the user can click on. But, two of these choices have the opportunity to line up into the same branch if the user clicks on a certain sequence of choices. For example, if the user decides for the man to go right and cross the street, they will get the same choice as someone who decides to ignore the homeless man on the street; “crosses the street”.

Most importantly, no matter which choices the user makes, they will always end up with the same ending; the man dies. Once the user reaches this ending to the story, the user clicks on the words “The man has died” which links them to a page with the word “FATE”. The word covers up the entire page and the user cannot click on anything else to get them back to the home page or any other previous choice. The idea behind this choice is suppose to emphasize the idea of fate and how it is something that is irreversible and inescapable. No matter what choices you make in life, you will reach the same ending that fate has decided for you.
