Topic: What has made Marvel Studios’ superheroes stand out from the rest: character (relatability)
Thesis:
For decades, super heroes have infiltrated cinema with a varying degree of success and failure. But no studio has been able to achieve the massive success that Marvel Studios has with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unlike any other studio who has tried their hand in making films of this genre, Marvel has discovered what it means to successfully adapt a comic book character onto the silver screen. Marvel has not only allowed these stories (some dating back to the early 1940s) to live on and appeal to a broader audience, but they have changed the idea of what a superhero film can be. Within the span of merely a decade Marvel Studios has transformed the way we see the superhero genre, starting with their very first film; Iron Man.
What did you test?: I tested the materials that are going to be used and if audiences can understand the prop without knowing the context surrounding it.
What are your next steps?: Begin prototyping with metal and find a way to incorporating LED lights while concealing the electronics.
