Bridge #4 Progress

Progress Report:

Following the feedback from our group meeting during our previous class, I’ve begun to make a few changes to my final project. The first big change that I made to my project was the materials themselves. In attempt to try and find a cheaper alternative to metal, I’ve begun experimenting with 3D Printing. Although I cannot 3D all of my parts, the parts that will be concealed by the metal frame of the project I will try to make via 3D printer. I have also been experimenting with trying to conceal the cords of the LED light strips via the stand.

Thesis Statement:

For decades, super heroes have infiltrated cinema with a varying degree of success and failure. But no studio has been able to achieve the massive success that Marvel Studios has with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unlike any other studio who has tried their hand in making films of the superhero genre, Marvel has discovered what it means to successfully adapt a comic book character onto the silver screen. Marvel has not only allowed these stories (some dating back to the early 1940s) to live on and appeal to a broader audience, but they have also changed the idea of what a superhero film can be. Within the span of merely a decade, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has shown audiences that a superhero film can be more than a special effects spectacle, starting with their very first film Iron Man.

Final Objective:

-Symbolically convey my thesis through a prop from one of the films that I am discussing.

-Make the final product as accurate as possible (to the film itself).

Work done this week:

-Begun experimenting with various materials.

-Figuring out ways to conceal wires of LED lights (tried to do through the stand of the piece itself).

Objectives For Next Week:

-Finish the base of the piece itself.

-Attempt to incorporate lights into the innards of the piece.
