Ritual Project

For the Ritual project, I mainly focused on the sound aspect of the performance. In many tribes, as well as rituals, drums create vibration, which is normally related to healing, and health. For our project i decided that the drumming and humming in the backgrounds music would directly relate to the heart. The drums being the heartbeat. The sounds in the room during the performance increased in volume and speed as the performance reached its climax, which is when we stabbed the hearts. This is meant to create tension in the room leading up to that moment. Another thing that I brought to the table was the Grape juice. The intention of the grape juice was to imitate the drinking of blood. Tribes all around the world use blood and the intake of it as a sacrificial ritual. Typically blood from another being is drank, but in our ritual, we drank the blood of our own hearts, with the intention of keeping ourselves alive despite giving up our hearts to the goddess Artemis.
