Plastic pollution: One town smothered by 17,000 tonnes of rubbish

My Reflection

This is absolutely crazy. 17,000 tonnes of waste? To be very frank, at first, I didn’t realize how much that would be. However, after the article made a comparison with the Eiffel Tower, I was shocked and appalled. First, to the people responsible for leaving the waste and second, for us to be making that much waste to begin with. I am not the best with my trash either and haven’t necessarily changed my habits but after getting a visual idea of how bad the situation is, it really makes me want to pursue a waste free life. I also found it interesting like the previous article I made a reflection on that you can’t necessarily do things that would seem like it would help the environment but you actually have to follow a system because otherwise it’s all for naught. Though, obviously, it was never these illegal factories intention to recycle for the environment but for the money which is very apparent through the unethical way they were going about their business. It’s seriously sad how people can find ways to manipulate the system to benefit themselves while hurting others.
