‘Don’t feed the monster!’ The people who have stopped buying new clothes

My Reflection

I can definitely relate to this article because I have also been trying to cut down the amount of retail shopping I do. I come from a very consumerist family so I feel like part of my bad shopping habits comes from that but I do think I often use shopping as a distraction and it becomes a source of temporary happiness which is why it becomes so addicting. It’s truly a bad habit to possess and I’ve been trying to combat it. A while back, I started thrifting which made me feel bad less because it costed less and meant that I wasn’t supporting any fast fashion brands. However, I eventually came to a point where I felt like I already had way too many clothes and that I always wear the same things so any type of shopping just stopped making sense. I started asking myself  “Do I really need this?” and oftentimes I didn’t. That’s why the article really resonated with me because I went through the same process and it’s interesting to see that it’s not just me but this is a more widespread phenomenon.
