With my main topic being religion, I found a deck of cards at Monoprix which I find interesting to use. My first thought when I saw this object at Monoprix was the fact that if I was back home in Bangkok, they wouldn’t be selling cards anywhere as gambling is banned. Although gambling is banned and not the cards, the police would charge you if they see you playing cards in public (they make up many excuses just to get money anyhow).
I want to transform this object into something related to religion and instead of focusing on Namdhari for this mini project, I decided to focus on Buddhism.
I go to the Buddhist temples quite often and before I decide on how to transform the deck of cards, I made a collage of images from Thailand and Buddhism:
