Final Critique

Narrative

I walked off the elevator and was about to take a sharp right when I heard the jingle of chains hitting each other. I looked around and didn’t see any chains, but I did see a man staring up around the corner. Confused I walked over, slightly behind him, about three feet or so. And as soon as my perspective was around the corner, I saw the reason behind the beautiful music.

Long silver chains hanging from the ceiling with the centerpiece of two old worn down folding garden chairs. They feel like they are right out of an Alice in Wonderland scene. Almost floating, but being held up by a single chain, flowing back and forth with the movement of the ceiling.

I watched the sunlight beam across the chairs and onto the wall, creating magnificent patterns. I followed my gaze with the light which took my eyes to the hallway, where I would’ve walked if I would have taken a right. I notice a student walking away from this direction, with their earphones in, not knowing that there is a piece of art hiding behind them. I stood there and watched them walk away, then being interrupted in my own thoughts.

“You’re the first student to notice the noise all afternoon.”
