Embodiment: Object as Self (ICON)

                         Original Sketch (Scan)

– Through the “Embodiment: Object as Self (ICON)” project for my drawing & imaging class, I’ve learned and discovered things that I didn’t know beforehand. In terms of the process for the project, we first need to set up a still life of an object that you brought to class and find a light source and basically do a quick sketch on it. After that, we transfer our drawing onto Bristol and begin to paint in what you see (dark – shadows) and leave the light mass alone until the overall drawing is done.

– Next, we create a mixture of “local color” and just do an experimentation on the drawing itself on photoshop and try to come up with different mood/tone and then create a new version for each painting.

– So what I did was that I came up with three different locations and three different emotions/mood for my new versions of the painting.

– The first one gives me a very peaceful feeling, very calm and settle tone for the colors selections.

– The second one gives me a “horror” movie vibe, it creates this scary and fearful scene (especially towards the background of the image)

– The third one gives me an “ordinary” vibe in a pixilated world. It almost feels like the object was placing into a “Legoland” world.
