Short documentation

  • Miss America protest on September 7th in 1968
  • Proposal and Treatment
  • I want for more women to become more comfortable with the way they look without makeup, their hair styled and heels
  • My intended audience is girls ages 14-18
  • On the day of Miss America protest around two hundred women spoke out on the issue of women’s high beauty standards. The protest included tossing commonly used feminine products like makeup, bras, curling irons, high heels, and other items to which they referred as “instruments of female torture” into a “Freedom Trash Can”.
  • I want to film how a girl is getting ready. She puts on a lot of makeup, does her hair, and puts clothes that look fashionable. Then that part rewinds very fast showing that all of that happened in the past. Then the second part of the video with show the same girl getting ready but this time she does not bother to look pretty, she just wants to feel herself. The whole video will be followed by me interviewing myself about the topic of trying to follow the concept of beauty standards as much as possible and how my views have changed throughout the years.
