I started by picking out a pattern that I like and which will not be too hard to trace in Illustrator and then alter.
I then created an outline to be able to scale it and make it into a bigger pattern which I would be able to color in with the hues of three colors that I picked.
I tried to make the piece look more cohesive by choosing three hues that are located next to each other on the color wheel but at the same time I wanted to create a distinct contrast between each of the rectangles.
