I started by creating a value scale that consists of hand-drawn marks (top row) and photos of textures (bottom row). I added a color value scale in the middle to be able to match the colors of the top and bottom rows.
Then in the next few weeks we had a couple of figure drawing sessions which allowed me to practice drawing people.
I picked the most successful drawing that depicted the shape of the body and the shadows accurately. I substituted the highlights and shadows with shapes which I later filled with hand-drawn marks.
For the final version I added a little bit more depth. I changed the background to make it more dimensional (changes the perspective and added more shadows) as well as added depth to the hair. My goal was to use hand-drawn marks to create an illusion of a hand done piece, which I think I achieved.
