My name is Des Magness, and I’m from Austin, Texas. I’m majoring in Photography, and chose to attend Parsons because I’m hoping to get involved in editorial and fashion photography, and also being in the city for school is incredible experience in terms of connections. I love portrait photography, and I feel that fashion is a good crossover between portraiture, fine art and photojournalism, all types of photography I’m interested in pursuing. I’m really excited to get involved in the photography department at Parsons, because there are so many resources and opportunities here. I haven’t had much experience with fine art, so Parsons first year has definitely been a new experience for me – but I’m really enjoying trying out new materials and learning new skills.
