MOMI Visit

This piece was a miniature of the Tyrell Skyscraper from Blade Runner. I liked it a lot because it made me think about how much work and effort goes into every piece in film and production. A lot of the times when I view things like this in scenes I don’t ever consider the work behind them. It also made me think about sound in film – foley artists are behind every single little sound. It made me consider the detail orientation that goes into art making.

This is a photo of a film they were showing at MOMI, called “Nanook of the North“, which was one of the first longer length documentaries. It caught my eye, because it was one of the first explorations of human nature in film.

I loved the room of cameras showing the progression of cameras, and development of point of view through them. One of the plaques mentioned that the first photo and video was mostly just people pointing their cameras at things they found interesting in life around them. It’s interesting to think about how much photography and videography have developed since that original curiosity.
