Bridge Project 1

Part 1

For part one, I chose these two boots because the design and material were so different. In the past, the boots has round shape, pop color, and puffy fabric. Today’s boots has sharp shape, brown color, and heel. The style and materials of two moon boots were very different. However, those two boots had indivisual styles. Since the early 70s, the Moon Boot represents the symbol of irony, fashion, and design.

Part 2: Item 1
Designer: Vivienne Westwood
Name of Item: MacAndreas tartan mini kilt with sporran and safety pin mouth piece
Origin: United Kingdom
Season/Year: F/W 1993/94 (reproduced 2017)

When I first saw this item, it catched my eyes right away because the design was very impressive. I noticed that the skirt is very sexy and cute at the same time. It worn by Scottish Highland men, and after it became anostalgic sysmbol for Scottish nationals in diaspora. It is common element of girl’s private school uniform. If I imagine my self wearing this skirt, I would feel great because I really like the design of it. I also would feel like to ride a motocycle becasue I think the outfit goes well with motocycle. This skirt was designed for Scottish men. If I could wear this now, I want to wear it with black crop top and high heel. I would feel like I become Harlequin in the movie. I think this skirt is designed for beauty because this kind of cloth is not functional or formal. The designer used wool, cotton, leather, horsehair, pewter, and steel. The materials look so good, when they are all together. If I would redesign this, I would like to make it longer, so it could have two different feelings in one design. I never thought about metal became transparent, so I imagined the metal parts became transparent. The uses of material will make huge difference of design.
Beginning in the late seventeenth century, pleats were sown into the back the skirt, loops were added for ease of belting, and the top length formed an autonomous garment. For Highland clans , the kilt symbolized familial, military and geographic loyalties

Item 2
Designer: Sandra Choi (Jimmy Choo)
Name of Item: Romy 100
Origin: United Kingdom
Season/Year: Pre-fall 2016

This high heel from Jimmy Choo is very simple and common design in fashion industry. Even though, it is a simpe design, this shoes has classic, formal, and gorgeous design. This high heel has sharp shape on the front, and it made with black kid leather. The function of this heel is to wear it when people need to go to formal places or it can be wear daily depends on person. It was inspired by skyscraper. If I could wear this heel, I would feel lke I became a working woman. Also, the design of a shoes is goes well with New York city. Most of the time, women wear high heels when they need to be formal or wheh they are working and dating. If I could redesign this, I would like to make flat shoes, so women can wear it daily. I imagined if this heel has two design, one with kid leather, and one with reflective material. It will give totally different style and feelings in one design. The classic pointy toe pump has been slightly updated with a softer point and a new stiletto heel. Leather lined with a leather sole, they are finished with a black kid leather upper. Made in Italy.

Item 3
Designer: Yves Saint Laurent
Name of Item: Shoes
Origin: France
Season/Year: 1977

This is a wedge heel from Yves Saint Laurent, and I chose this because I really like high heels. When I saw this, I noticed it is a summar shoes. The wedge heel is more comfortable than regular high heels, and it is good to wear at beach. This heel was inspired by European casual wear, and it also inspired by Itailn designer Ferragamo. If I could wear this heel, I would feel like I am walking on a beach way. This shoes was designed for women, and I would like to wear it now because the design is not countrified. If I imagine myself wearing this, it is very beautiful to wear in summer. The heel was made with cotton and erpartorope. The designer used rope to make a heel part, and used cotton for comfortable shoes shape. If I could redesign this, I don’t want to change the design of it, but I want to make different colors of it. I imagined if this shoes have transparent materials on the bottom of a shoe, it could maximized original design.
