Me and Sustainability

– Work in progress

For the Me and Sustainability final project, I am going to create scarf using old t-shirts.

Few weeks ago, when I changed my summer clothes to winter clothes, I found several old t-shirts that I want to throw away. That moment, I thought about this project, and it would be exciting if I make my own scarf with sustainable material.

I inspired by fashion designer, Stella McCartney. When I research about fashion sustainability, I found her website, and I really liked her design and idea of her work. Also, I saw one of her quote and I respect her idea and passion about sustainable fashion design.
“I design clothes that are meant to last. I believe in creating pieces that are not going to get burnt, that are not going to landfills and that are not going to damage the environment. For every piece in every collection, I am always asking what have we done to make this garment more sustainable and what else can we do. It is a constant effort to improve…”

These days, the company is always looking for new ways to be more sustainable as it feels responsible for the resources it uses and the impact its activities have on the planet. This sense of responsibility and forward thinking is present when they design their collections, when they manufacture the clothes and even when they open new stores.

Therefore, I want to make a scarf that I would never throw way.
