From my point of view, time can be represented in varies way.

I created a coordinate axis to help me understand and represent the TIME. The X axis means the normal process of time and the Y axis means what happened during that particular duration.

Sometimes I can’t really feel the time when I just wake up or when I am going to bed. So I decided to make the images of the start and the end of a day black and white to emphasize the lack perception of time. Also, according to Marilyn Mitchell’s article “The Visual Representation of Time”, symmetry is one of the ways to make visual representations of time pleasing. In term of this, I placed both two photos at the beginning and the end in my time map.

Then, in the next section, I intended to express the normal passing of time by increasing the number of rows. As for me, time isn’t unidimensional, it is two dimensional even three dimensional. So I not only increased the number of rows but also the number of lines to emphasize the conception of time and space which are inseparable and connected to each other.

Besides, I was really shocked by the article named “Geometry of  Psychological Time” by Metod Saniga. The author writes four types of distortions of time and space and what interests me the most is the mental psychoses. I chose to present two examples of mental psychoses in my time map. One is the” time standing” phenomena and another one is the “sensation of time flashing backward”. To express “time standing”, I used the same photo multiple times. The patient who has this disorder says: “The time standstill is infinite, I live in a constant eternity.” These static photos show the conception of “time standing”. And to express” the sensation of time flashing backward” which means somebody is “sucked up into the past, or that the past would overcome me and flow over me”, I put the photo which is taken at 2pm before the photo which is taken at 1pm and they overlapped each other.
