I was born and am growing up in a small seaside town outside of Boston, MA. While I have always dreamed of a life split between the excitement of restless New York and romance of iconic Paris, I will always consider the oceany smell and the One-Way streets of Marblehead my home. I (as well as my parents who switched off driving carpools) have spent large amounts of time on fields playing in and watching soccer and lacrosse games, as well as long drives to sailing regattas with my older sister and to New Hampshire so I can try to pass my dad on the ski slopes while my need for speed scared my mom and the other skiers on the mountain. I became interested in fashion design, however, when I discovered my growing desire to be different and unique, and feel as beautiful and confident as possible while doing so. Ever since, I have been watching E! Live Before the Red Carpet before every award show followed by Fashion Police coverage (particularly shook by unfiltered Joan Rivers’ wit). My interest in clothes quickly turned into a passion for Old Hollywood, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, high end glamour, and of course, while denying to my parents that I knew what it was, Sex in the City. Every single school notebook is covered in sketches and my room is unsafe to walk in with the large sums of pins on the floor. And now, after completing an incredible summer at Parsons Paris in 2018, publishing a website to display my work, (love-lizzie.com) and improving hem lines and drapery design after design, I have successfully convinced my parents to support me in my dream by allowing me to go to design school. I believe fashion design is the most expressive and tangible form of art, and the encouragement for creativity, risks, and change hooks me more and more every day. I can’t wait to get as involved with the industry as possible and work hard enough so that one day, I can be featured in Vogue and have Anna Wintour sit front row at my show during New York Fashion Week. A girl can dream!
