Summary:

In the interview, an innovative artist and musician named Diamanda Galas, describes, explains and defends her choice of style and method of expression in her works. Discussion Questions

  1. There’s nothing wrong with expressing our own opinions in public, but where does the line lie?
  2. Despite the fact that swearing helps some to release anger but is it actually psychologically beneficial? And is it okay to curse often?

I found it amazing yet also hard to believe that Diamanda could be so passionate and firm of her own beliefs. Her devotion to her career is admirable as well as the unique method and style she uses to convey her messages. Nevertheless, I felt uncomfortable reading her responses, her voice especially. I can sense her brokenness, her anger, her rage towards the society and the darkness within her. In Christianity, someone who inherits traits and has thoughts similarly to Diamanda’s is assumed she has been consumed and tempted by Satan. In my opinion, it is truly frightening to think that brokenness can do so much damage to one person.
