Int. Seminar REFLECTION Memoir

1) what was the most important lesson that you learnt throughout this bridge topic?

1.) I learned through this topic how to write personal information in my essay without wanting to hide anything about myself.

2) how did you approach the main written assignment? how easy/difficult was it and how did the class discussion influence your process?

2.) I started the main written assignment with a photograph. This helped inspire me and remember more memories and details from back home. It was pretty difficult to write with a lot of details but the class discussion helped me write in a more abstract way.

3) once you started drafting your essay, did you change your topic or did you change the direction you wanted to take in your essay? what role did your sources and the class discussion have in shaping your opinion and your essay?

3.) I didn’t change my topic because the place I miss from home was easy for me to reminisce about. After my first draft which was very direct, I wanted to take the direction of my final draft  away from a typical essay format.

4) what surprised you the most about the process of writing the essay? what was the most challenging part?

4.) What surprised me was being so comfortable with writing about my personal life. I found remembering details and specifics quite challenging but the more I thought about it and looked at some old pictures, I found memories coming back to me.

5) how is your seminar work connected to your studio work? what do they have in common?

5.) My seminar and studio work for this project forced me to remember my past. Both good and bad memories were needed for my essay and my sound map, this was hard at first but I found myself really enjoying both projects. I never thought I would like to write about myself but after this essay, I hope to do it again.
