For the third project, I decided to focus on the concept of time is a dimension. I was very inspired by the concept that people are constantly either in the future or in the past. Therefore, for my book, I created a book that essentially predicts everyones future due to societal pressures, etc. I wanted to keep the book very minimalistic and symbolic. Therefore, I used photoshop to create different symbols that represent the different stages in ones life. For the culprit of the plot, the book guides the reader through the different levels of education. I really wanted to capture the essence of the immense amount of schooling individuals partake in. Towards the end of the book, I ask the reader “What about now?” because we are so caught up in planning our future, in jumping from school to school and responsibility to responsibility, when does one step away from what is planned for them and make their own decisions?

I decided to create a box for my book in order to create an environment for the story. The box that I created resembles an enclosure that basically entraps the book. The box was made from foam board that I constructed and glued together. I used push pins in order to connect the strips that created a “cover” for the box. The strips represent this trap that does not allow the book to escape conveying that time traps us all. The reason I used the push pins is because they convey a list or a reminder which alludes to the title of the book “Eve Rublevich’s life of lists.” Additioanlly, I created little envelopes in the book with a note for the reader due to the fact that I really wanted to include the reader in the process of my book.
