Major: Fashion Design
For my seminar research paper, I wrote about the inequality in fashion industry. I mainly focus on people’s fixed thinking about menswear and womenswear. A lot of people have their prejudice to what men should wear or women. For this essay, I have three reasons or phenomenons to support what I think. First: why men cannot wear a dress or skirt. Second: why there are more clothing stores serving for women. Third: unisex clothes. (good aspect)
I spend a lot of time struggling with the idea. I want to do clothes which is oversize and unisex. My research paper thesis: Even if it is impossible for the fashion industry to be equal, it should be the direction. So the garment I made can meet more groups of people’s standards I wish.
working process
The biggest problem for me is choosing the fabric. When I walked around the fabric store, I found one fabric which I really like. It is corduroy. The place I like is the color of this fabric. It is a light green color. To cooperate with this color, I choose the white color as the basic clothes. the design of my clothes is I want to do it in “collage way” which is also my personal style. so firstly, I did a basic overcoat with white twill fabric. Instead of the usual overcoat, I use the cardigan as the pattern of my coat. Then I put corduroy on top of it.
For my photography, I chose the Noguchi museum as the location.
The style I want to be is kind of industrial.
