For my zine and video self-narrative, I wanted to create coinciding pieces that would go together and carry the same feeling. In my zine project, I created a vertical accordion book that would give the feeling of scrolling on a phone. I cut the book so it would be the exact size of my phone screen and measured the text bubbles to be accurate. I did play with the color palette and inverted the text bubbles to be hot pink in order to help create the mood I intended. The content of the zine was inspired by some of the most bizarre messages I received from my sisters. I used my own person Bitmoji in order to self-narrate the zine and respond to the messages in my own voice. Since the content would be incredibly confusing and perhaps seem foreign to the individuals who don’t understand sisterly dynamics, I thought it would be important to include this for clarification and sometimes humorous purposes. The sleeve I created for my zine is inspired by my current ‘folio style wallet case I have on my phone. This is why I decided to keep it open rather than binding the book in a more traditional style.

In my video, I wanted to carry the same feeling of fun, goofy, and incredibly random moments we’ve had together. My inspiration for the style of editing was from the ever so funny vine compilations all over YouTube. I did jump cuts of different videos coming from my Snapchat memories from 2016-present (hence the vertical videos). Everything that is in the video has a very special place in my heart as do both of my sisters. I wanted to make this project lighthearted and cutesy. It made me laugh seeing my sisters and I and all of the fun times that we had. The intention of the video was to make sure that it had a connect feeling to my zine. I think that I was able to accomplish it by using some of the random moments coming from my zine and giving it life in my video.
