The focus of my zine was zooming in on one feature of my phone and examining how the information I found there could tell a story. This was inspired strongly by the video we watched flipping through a strangers photo gallery and the narrative that came out of this. I chose the “places” feature in the photo gallery. This feature gives you a map and as you zoom to any part it shows you all the photos you’ve taken in that location for however long you have had your cloud gallery. I have had the same account that all of my photos have been going to for some time now so what I really liked about this feature was that I could see photos I’ve taken four years ago and photos I took two months ago in the same location and that is a sorry in and of itself. My zine explored places and map through the lense of a phone and the digital world. I kept my design very minimalistic because to me that is what the digital world feels like to me: cold, clean, and organized.

My video is a self narrative told through the style of Mexican Loteria cards. I went to Mexico City over the summer and began to feel extremely connected to my heritage and have been trying to incorporate elements of this into my life ever since. I picked a handful of them and contrasted them with things in my every day life. I think it’s a good juxtaposition and also very representative of me.
