The Heidelberg project by Tyree Guyton was designed as a neighborhood wide instillation that’s aim was to enrich lives with art. When Guyton grew up in Heidelberg, it was a working class neighborhood. However, when he returned there was a rise in drug usage, violence, and the infrastructure was crumbling. Guyton identified his art as a medicine and got the neighborhood (especially the children) to take a huge role in the enlivening of his childhood neighborhood. They rearranged objects and treated abandoned lots like galleries and vacant houses like sculptures.
