WEEK OF APRIL 8  Brainstorming

Clothing Brand Inspos:

What they all have in common:

These brands are innovative in their advertising, as well as their styles. They work with the usage of drawing, text, and color, all laid out in a non-conventional/ traditional way. As for the collections, each one has a theme and is layered with a deeper meaning. This is where the bridge between clothing and wearable art occurs.

What I can get from this:

  1. I want my clothes to be layered (literally and figuratively)
  2. I want the clothes to be able to fit anyone – attachable/detachable
  3. I want them to convey a message about eating disorders
  4. I want to play with text/paint/drawings AND or images
  5. I want to create a small collection with a theme

WEEK OF APRIL 15 Prototype 1

THESIS / QUESTION

What is the root cause of why people develop bulimia? What is the emotional side of that in a personal narrative?

Group Discussion / Feedback:

The group and I discussed playing with the type of clothes I make since there is no apparent reason for the Jumpsuit design above any other type of clothing. They suggested I try making pajamas to relate to the breakfast theme, which I became on board with. They also talked about embodying some of the feelings of ED such as pins and needles etc which could be incorporated into my design.

Ideally what remains the same is a one-piece outfit (Jumpsuit OR PJs), with pictures down the front leg and one on the back.

What changes is the type of outfit, its purpose, the TV (cause it wouldn’t work logistically) etc.

WEEK OF APRIL 22: Prototype 2 with pictures

PICTURES I TOOK THIS WEEK TO BE IRONED ON (via transfer paper)!
