HOME

I found this stray cat walking down Saint Marks St. This conveys the idea of ‘home’ because for a cat living wild in the city, they make home wherever they go. This image represents home-making strategies such as adaptation, and the simple idea of taking what you can get. Like Andre Aciman describes in Shadow Cities, taking what is around you and connecting it to what is familiar can push your boundaries further overtime. I’m sure this cat had to adjust to the fast-paced streets of New York and become accuston to his surrounding to make it familiar. This can broaden one’s perspective of homemaking because if a small, innocent cat can make this city theirs, so can any human.
