Audible Montage Narrative – “Pizza Pasta”

In class, we are learning photoshop and for our final project, we could choose any topic that relates to a song lyrics or personal objects. I always have a difficult time choosing a final topic when we have the option to chose whatever we want. So I ended up doing the phrase “Pizza Pasta” that we use to always say in my high school to Italians. In our work, some part also has to be water colored. I decided to do the pizza in watercolor and the rest on the computer. But before the watercolor here is my proposal:

Proposal 1

Concept
I want to express the phrase “pizza pasta” by using classic Italian figures and using Photoshop to create an abstract art at the end. In my mind, I divided the space to 3 main layers. The first layer, as the one closest a street restaurant moment and pizza. Middle layer with the leaning tower of Pisa and the Cathedral behind. And combining all these with a space showing the milky way.

Procedure
With the phrase “pizza pasta” in my first illustration I am combining the space (Italy) with the Italian food and whole space covered with milky way on top of everything. On second illustration I am connecting foods with space, creating a solar system made out of fruits, vegetables, and cheese.

Image depiction
Close of the street cafe with a chef holding the pizza and women standing.
Zooming back to the Pisa tower and the cathedral next to it.
And the top part with stars covered in Italian flag

Materials
The combination of watercolors, images from the internet, and adobe photoshop.

Color application
Application of color will be mostly dark colors as it is on night but also trying to combine it with bright colors as how moon would make a dim light would shine on Earth.

Watercolors are really easy and could create amazing value to the object. Here is the pizza:

I also gather high-quality images from the to use with my concept.

After masking out the unnecessary space in it was time to place them all together in one layer. It is really important to keep a track of the name of layers and also grouping them and coloring them as well. These things help you to find it easier in the future. My final work was almost ready but something wasn’t right. The space between space (sky) and street part was too empty and I decided to change the orientation of the final work and finish it in landscape form.

And the final form in photoshop.

And Final

And the 2nd photoshop one I tried to combine the milky way with the Italian food creating a solar system made out of fruits and vegetables. The proposal for my 2nd photoshop trial:

Proposal 2

Concept
Combining the Italian theme again with the milky way that we saw was covering the sky previously. A solar system created by foods with effects. Different fruits orbiting the center of solar system “pizza”.

Procedure
With the phrase “pizza pasta” in my first illustration I am combining the space (Italy) with the Italian food and whole space covered with milky way on top of everything. On second illustration I am connecting foods with space, creating a solar system made out of fruits, vegetables, and cheese.

Image depiction
Starts with a giant red tomato planet standing on the right side of the painting.
Zooming in more can see the other food planets rotating around the Pizza Sun.
And covered with the hundreds of stars with purple galaxies.

Materials
Combination of water colors, images from internet, and adobe photoshop.

Color application
Dark background mostly covers everything and makes it difficult to textures other layers, most objects used with their original colors and added shadows, glows for the sun effect. A thin layer of textures also covers the whole image.

And here is the combination of photos that I used.

It was difficult to set them up in the Photoshop file because these object doesn’t look like a planet and sizes are pretty hard to give it a perspective. My first trial look liked someone just put 5 fruits on top a paper and added stars behind. I wanted to give more perspective to space with orbit and sizes of the planets, so I changed it.

I used tools to give a better perspective of the sun and the shadows and adding other galaxies taken from Hubble Space Telescope to give more depth to the final form. And the final form:
