This article automatically caught my eye because it was about Shanghai which is close to my home. I’ve also always lived in a big city so I wanted to learn more about how recycling works in those places. After reading about what Mr Wang has done to help Shanghai, I am truly inspired by him. If it wasn’t for him Shanghai would have so much more trash for the landfills. There is a huge problem with how China gets rid of their waste. Mr Wang and his co-workers are able to make money off of recycling and properly distributing waste. This whole article was really interesting to read because I don’t really know much about how China recycles. In America there are recycle bins everywhere and so many people are advocating recycling. While living in Hong Kong, it isn’t really that big. There are recycling bins however as a whole culture, Hong Kong people don’t really promote or are enthusiastic about recycling. I found it really interesting how they’re making money collecting garbage. There is a very big population of Chinese people who are homeless and poor. If people start really helping and making a business out of collecting trash and recycling it so many people could get jobs and start making money. Recycling and helping the city become cleaner can really be an occupation. It not only can reduce the amount of homeless people it will also make the city greener. All of the facts that I read about Shanghai really surprised me. I knew that China has trouble with trash because of the high population however I really never know how BIG of a problem it actually is.
