My Avatar’s starting point is Thales’s Arche: Everything comes from water and goes to water. I choose this because water and identity are both very pure and complicated, they both constantly change and they can both change shape according to their situation. I wanted to represent my avatar as a unique snow flake’ with is a metaphor and a state of water. The snow flake I made has noses shaped like mine on each corner and my favorite flower in the middle. I wanted it to be goofy! My aim is to make a diverse video of my snow flake melting so that we can see water freezing to become a big unique snow flake.
My first attempt of making a mold to put and freeze water in failed because of wrong material selection. I wanted to make the shape from clay first and get a silicon mold of that to put water in but when I mixed the ingredients of silicon I made a mistake and ended up covering snow flake clay with a strong layer of plastic. It ended up looking like an ancient snow flake. It was the opposite of my aim. I wanted the show the fluidity of life and personality but ended up showing preservation of them. After this I choose my materials carefully and made a wax mold to put water in. It worked!
