Cherry Lane Book

New York, 8,550,405 people, 8,550,405 different identities, 8,550,405 different stories. How many do we know? We only the ones we had the chance to see. We only know the ones that were shown to us. Cherry Lane is offering samples from others lives, each short play represents a new person, a new story. A potent way to learn New York and the varied personalities in it.
In this project we wanted to represent the historical Cherry Lane Theatre, located on east village in the way it effected us. In another neighborhood, without the chaotic layout of streets, this feeling wouldn’t be as powerful. It was an empty street when we entered the theatre but when we came out it was as if we could feel all the different struggles people were facing 10 meters away behind a wall. And labyrinth like streets gave the feeling of how endless the city is and the countless number of people in it.

In the book there are many windows that have an illustration of locked identities to symbolize all the unknown people and in the theatre of the book there are illustrations symbolizing the characters that were shown in the show.

1- Drinking Problem: A woman in a bar drinking and talking to herself about the miserable life she is trying to escape.
