Philosophy of Mind: Three Faces of Desire, author Timothy Schroeder introduce me in details of different phases of desire. The book breaks down and categorized people’s desire, it gave me more choices of the type of desire that I wanted to express, and clear up my confusion between desire and wants.
Sex and Suit by Anne Hollander show me the connect between cloth and desire, women have a greater diesel with men that is well dress compare to casual wear. Women have the fantasy with men wearing a suit just as much like men who love women with lace. The suit is a classic garment that has the long history that keeps reforming and evolving but never runs out of style.
Dress, Distress and Desire by Jennie Batchelor, the book further explain the relationship between dress and desire. The control, silhouette and the form of the dress can enhance the body shape in order to make a person more attractive and seductive.
After the library research, I took series of images with the scanner. I placed a plastic bag on top of my face and scan it. I am trying to express desire trough my facial expression. The reason behind the use of the thin material of plastic to cancel and enhance the contour of my face structure, and putting this emotion of desire into a physical filter. Desire is a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen. Sometimes it can end up bad, when one’s desire become too strong they will seek for bad options, or they will do nothing but sit there wishing it to happen. The goal for this prototype is to shoot out a strong emotion through images. An image is normally fixed and quit but my goal of this prototype is trying to create something strong, with a lot of movement, and something that speaks to the viewers. I want to record people’s facial expression when they see these picture because the first thing that will express people’s feeling is their facial expression. then later ask about what they think about the images and record it down to further expand my project from these prototypes.
