Plan for class 4/15

CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE……………….
Depending on where you are with your Studio & Seminar work you will get a chance to choose one of two options for how you spend your time today:

OPTION 1: SEMINAR DRAFT WRITING & STUDIO WORK

or

OPTION 2: STUDIO WORK

Before you act too fast, here is more info on where each of those choices will lead you by 6:30:

OPTION 1 SEMINAR DRAFT WRITING & STUDIO WORK

This option allows you to split your time between working on your draft and working on your studio project, and is recommended for anyone who needs to devote some time to writing ahead of Wednesday. Here is the breakdown of how this will go:

40 mins: Open up your email and start writing an email to yourself. Describe your research so far and how it will hit on each of the points outlined in the Seminar rubric. **Don’t worry about being organized or applying an “academic filter”.** Write like you’re really writing an email to yourself. The draft due Weds is ROUGH, and the sooner you get ideas out in your writing the sooner you have something to shape into a more refined draft.
20 mins: Reflect on what you wrote. Make notes about how you’ll break rules and integrate Studio and Seminar. (If it’s helpful to print out your writing before doing this so that you can hand write notes, feel free to make a print run).
15 mins: Pair up with someone. Reach each other’s writing & provide feedback on the work so far. Hit send & cc: me (cannonj@newschool.edu) + Casey (chaymes@newschool.edu).

10 min break

Remaining hour & 15 mins: Work on studio project. Give special thought to how you can use your Studio project to relay your Seminar writing. (What kinds of formal decisions do you need to make while creating the piece to ensure this happens?)

OPTION 2: STUDIO DAY ALL DAY
This option lets you focus on your studio project for the full session w/a 10 min break in the middle, and is recommended for those who are in a good place with their drafts and needing to work more on studio stuff. Over this extended work time you’ll have a chance to advance your making & prototyping while also thinking deeply about how your Studio project will relay your Seminar writing. (What kinds of formal decisions do you need to make while creating the piece to ensure this happens?)
