Personal Experience :

The first thing I remember thinking when I walked into the exhibition was, “wow Frida Kahlo was a small woman!” I promptly proceeded to gaze in awe at her various dresses and paintings. If I am entirely honest I have never been a huge fan of Kahlo’s work and am sad to say that this exhibition did not provide me with any newfound fondness for it; although I am more inclined to her personality and way of dress after visiting the exhibition. Her spunky and positive attitude drew me in and I found myself more drawn to her story and the photographs of her rather than her artwork itself. I think one thing to consider is how she poured her soul into her artwork and how she found explicit relief from the pain of her day to day life within the brush strokes. I hope to express and share a piece of myself in the same way in my future work such as the upcoming Bridge 3, 4, &5 Projects.
