Kim Høltermand – Tears in the Rain

The Keyword is more of a phrase. It comes from a famous line in one of my all time favorite movies, Blade Runner (the original.) The line is said by character Roy as he dies a slow death while sitting in the rain holding a white dove. He explains how life is like Teardrops in the rain. When he finally dies he releases the dove and it flies away. This scene is a powerful one, both visually and metaphorically. The line “Life is like teardrops in the rain” is so touching and can be interpreted in multiple different ways. I relate it to all the experiences in my life. They may seem grand or little but no matter their scale or meaningfulness they are forgotten completely when you die. But I would argue they are “washed” away even before you die. I came to this phrase after writing some philosophy and studying philosophers on the internet. It is my goal this summer to become more aware of myself and my outlook on life. Kim Høltermand is an incredible photographer. I am subscribed to his newsletter and get updates when he publishes new work. His collage titled “Tears in the rain” perfectly encapsulates a world in which things and places are blurred or “washed away” slightly forgotten. Here is a link to his linkedin which I think is a suitable substitute for a bio https://www.linkedin.com/in/kim-h%C3%B8ltermand-27279b136/
