A poem inspired by Gertrude Stein

We were across. Across the sea, and full of harmony. The sea is vast and wide. I don’t know who to be or who to see. The city is vast expansion, with edifices that pop up everyday. I want to be, to see, to believe that I will make it here. In this city of dreams and make believe, I was a child and dreamed of dreams, and the city. To fall. To forget the days. Hours. Time. To let go of the past Explore your heart, mind, and soul, and to never return to who you were. Where you started. Love and be kind. Love and don’t fall behind. Know the news. The good News and the bad News. Know your views.  Know that they can change. They can become different. Don’t forget your roots, that ground you like a tree. break past the stratosphere and through the cosmos and be who you want to be.
